Blessed are the husband and wife who continue to be affectionate, considerate, and loving after the wedding bells have ceased from ringing.

Blessed are the husband and wife who are as polite and courteous to one another as they are to their friends.

Blessed are they who love their mates more than any other person in the world, and who joyfully fulfill their marriages vow of a lifetime of fidelity and mutual helpfulness to one another.

Blessed are they who attain parenthood, for children are a heritage from the Lord.

Blessed are they who remember to thank God for their food before they partake of it, and who set apart some time each day for the reading of the Bible and for prayer.

Blessed are those mates who never speak loudly to one another, and who make their home a place "where seldom is heard a discouraging word".

Blessed are the husband and wife who faithfully attend the worship service of the church, and who work together in the church for the advancement of Christ's kingdom.

Blessed are the husband and wife who can work out the problems of adjustment without the interference from relatives.

Blessed is the couple which has complete understanding about financial matters, and have worked out a perfect partnership, with all money under the control of both.

Blessed are the husband and wife who humbly dedicate their lives and their homes to Christ, and who practice the teachings of Christ in the home by being unselfish, loyal, and loving.

The Jars

The preacher placed two identical jars on the table next to the pulpit. He quoted 1 Samuel 16:7 : The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.

"These jars came from the same factory, were made of the same materials, and can hold the same amount. But they are different", he explained. Then he upset one, and it oozed out honey. He turned over the other, and vinegar spilled out. "When a jar is upset, whatever is in it comes out. Until the jars were upset they looked alike. The difference was within and could not be seen, but when they were upset their contents were revealed", he stated.

When we are not upset we put on a good front, but when we are upset we reveal our innermost thoughts and attitudes, for "Out of the abundance of the heart his mounth speaks" (Luke 6:45)

What if someone tipped you over today? What would flow out? Would you reveal the "honey" of grace and patience, or the vinegar of anger and sarcasm?

"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins" (1 Peter 4:8)

The Character of Giving

One of the ways that colleges, universities, hospitals,
museums, and other public institutions encourage wealthy
individuals to make substantial financial gifts is to offer
to name a building (or some part of the institution) after
the donor. Not all donors give in order to be remembered for
posterity; indeed, some choose to give anonymously. Each
person must weigh his own reasons for giving.

Jesus had sharp words for wealthy Pharisees in Jerusalem
who gave alms to the needy in order to reap praise for
themselves. Matthew 6:2 ("do not sound a trumpet")
refers to an unknown practice by which they called attention
to themselves--possibly the trumpets that preceded
almsgiving at times of fasting and prayer. Regardless, Jesus
said this: There are two kinds of rewards for good
works--the rewards of the praise of men and the rewards of
the praise of God. And we are free to choose our reward.

If you act so as to receive the praise of men, you've
already received your reward. But if you act in secret, you
will receive God's reward in due course.

The manner of giving shows the character of the giver,
more than the gift itself.

Our Plea

To restore and maintain the original church which Christ established.

The church was planned by God before the foundation of the world. (Romans 8:29; 1 Peter 1:18-20)

It was established in accordance with his divine will and through it, God's wisdom is made known. (Ephesians 3:10-12)

The blood of Christ and the church of Christ are inseparably bound together.

(Ephesians 1:22-23; 4:4-6; 5:23-27; Colossians 1:18-20)

All things that make up man's salvation are in Christ and his church.

Following baptism, we are to study and grow in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. (2 Timothy 2:15; 1 Peter 2:2; 2 Peter 1:18-20)

Then, we are to regularly attend the services, as commanded in the scripture. (Hebrews 10:25)

Finally, after having lived faithful until death, we will receive our reward, a mansion in God's heavenly kingdom. (2 Timothy 4:8; Revelation 2:10; 14:13)
